Heart Attack Risk Factor

Coronary artery disease, also known as (CAD) is a very common type of heart disease in The United States. The disease effects blood vessels that supply blood to the heart, known as coronary arteries. CAD causes reduced blood flow to the heart muscle which can be very dangerous if left untreated. Atheroscelrosis, wish can cause CAD is the abundance of unhealthy fats and cholesterol found in and on the artery wall which caused buildup called plaque, making the arteries narrow and restrcing blood flow.

Coronary artery and Heart disease in general often develops over many years due to lifetyle, epigenetic and genetic triggers. Symptoms include chest pain and shortness of breath caused by lack of blood flow can be a warning sign to a heart attack which is when the blood flow stops completely.

Eating a heart healthy diet with specific nutrients, exercise, reducing alcohol use and not smoking or vaping has been shown to help prevent coronary artery disease and many conditions that can lead to it. Treatment for coronary artery disease may include medicines and surgery.
